A Dead-Simple AI Daily Planner That Texts You Your Tasks Each Morning

5 min read

Start your day with clarity. Get a text message every morning with your top 3 priorities, weather, and schedule.

Most productivity systems fail because they require you to open an app.

You have to open Notion, or Asana, or your Calendar to see what you need to do. But before you get there, you open Instagram, check email, and suddenly it's 10 AM and you've done nothing.

The solution is Push Productivity. Instead of you going to the plan, the plan comes to you.

In this guide, we will build a system that sends you a single SMS at 7:00 AM every morning containing:

  • Your first meeting of the day.
  • Your Top 3 Tasks (prioritized by AI).
  • A motivational quote (optional, but nice).
  • Time to build: 30 minutes Tools required: Make.com, Google Calendar, Todoist (or Notion/Asana), OpenAI, Twilio (for SMS)

    Why SMS?

    SMS is the only channel with a 98% open rate. It cuts through the noise. When your phone buzzes at 7 AM, you read it. It sets the intention for the day before the chaos starts.

    The Workflow Blueprint

  • Trigger: 7:00 AM daily.
  • Fetch: Get today's events from Google Calendar.
  • Fetch: Get active tasks from Todoist.
  • Think: OpenAI analyzes the list and picks the "Big 3".
  • Send: Twilio sends the SMS to your phone.

    Step-by-Step Setup Guide

    Phase 1: Get the Data

  • Trigger: Make.com Timer module. Set to 07:00.
  • Calendar: Add Google Calendar -> "List Events".
  • * Start Date: now (midnight today).

    * End Date: addDays(now; 1) (midnight tomorrow).

    Aggregator:* Use a Text Aggregator to combine events into a list: {{Summary}} at {{start.dateTime}}.

  • Tasks: Add Todoist (or Notion) -> "Get Tasks".
  • * Filter: Due date is Today or Overdue.

    Aggregator:* Use a Text Aggregator to combine tasks: - {{content}}.

    Phase 2: The AI Filter

    You might have 15 tasks on your list. You can't do 15 things. We need AI to be ruthless.

  • Add OpenAI -> "Create a Completion".
  • System Prompt:
  • > You are a productivity coach. Review the user's schedule and task list. Pick the 3 absolute most critical tasks that move the needle. Ignore busy work.

    > Output format:

    > "Good Morning! ☀️

    > 📅 First Meeting: [Time] - [Name]

    >

    > 🎯 Top 3 Priorities:

    > 1. [Task]

    > 2. [Task]

    > 3. [Task]

    >

    > 💭 Thought: [Short motivational quote]"

  • User Prompt:
  • > Schedule: {{CalendarString}}

    > Tasks: {{TaskString}}

    Phase 3: The SMS

  • Create a free Twilio account. You'll get a phone number (e.g., +1-555-0123).
  • In Make, add Twilio -> "Send a Message".
  • To: Your personal mobile number.
  • Body: Map the output from OpenAI.
  • Advanced Enhancements

    1. Weather Integration

    Add a Weather module (Make has a built-in one) to fetch the forecast.

    AI Prompt:* "If it's raining, remind me to take an umbrella."

    2. "Late Night" Mode

    Add a second scenario that runs at 9:00 PM.

    Prompt:* "Ask me what I accomplished today and if I need to reschedule anything for tomorrow."

    * Reply to the SMS to add tasks to tomorrow's Todoist (requires setting up a Webhook to receive SMS replies).

    3. Spouse Sync

    Send the schedule summary to your partner as well, so they know if you have late meetings.

    Real-World Example: The "Deep Work" Writer

    I use this to protect my writing time. My AI instructions are: "If I have no meetings before 11 AM, tell me to write for 2 hours immediately."

    My text usually says:

    "Good Morning. No meetings until 1pm. 🎯 Priority 1: Write Chapter 4. Do not check email."

    Conclusion

    Technology should serve you, not distract you. By condensing your digital obligations into a single, text-based summary, you start the day proactively instead of reactively.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Can I use WhatsApp instead of SMS?

    Yes. Make.com has a 'WhatsApp Business' module. However, it requires a Meta Business account. For personal use, Telegram or Slack are easier alternatives.

    Does this work with Apple Reminders?

    Apple Reminders does not have a direct API on Make.com. You would need to use Todoist, Google Tasks, Asana, or Notion for the task source.

    How does the AI know what is 'important'?

    You give the AI a prompt like 'Prioritize tasks that are revenue-generating or have a deadline of today.' It uses the task name and due date to make a judgment call.

    Is Twilio expensive?

    Twilio costs about $0.0079 per SMS. If you send one message a day, it costs less than $0.25 per month. It is extremely cheap for personal use.
